Frequently asked Questions
Do I need construction experience to help build?
No, it’s great if you have construction skills but certainly not necessary. Your crew leader will ensure that you receive training for the task at hand. If you have expertise in some aspect of construction, please let us know.
What should I wear?
Volunteers at construction sites and our ReStore wear clothes they don’t mind getting dirty, torn, or even ruined. Closed-toe shoes are required. Dress in layers that are appropriate for indoor and/or outdoor work in whatever weather is happening during your build day.
How old do you have to be to volunteer?
We are age limited on who can volunteer since construction, by nature, is a dangerous environment. Youth under 16 years old are not allowed to volunteer on the construction site. Youths 16 and 17 years old are allowed to volunteer with a signed waiver from a parent or guardian. Adults 18 years and older just need to sign the online waiver when they sign up.
Habitat for Humanity has an urgent need for skilled construction supervisors.
Experienced construction supervisors are needed to help lead, supervise, and train teams of volunteers at our build sites. If you are interested in helping with this vital role please contact our construction chair at [email protected] .
