A New Affordable Housing Neighborhood begins in Milton! | Print |  E-mail

Construction scene with backhoe, people, and treesGreen Mountain Habitat for Humanity and hundreds of volunteers have begun work on our largest project to date, 5 affordable homes in Milton. We have broken ground and the construction of the first three of the homes has started. However, we must raise funds and volunteers during the course of construction to complete this multi-year, multi-family project.

Local Lutheran churches, the Thrivent organization, and Lowes are sponsoring individual homes. GE Healthcare (formally IDX) has stepped up as a sponsor by offering hundreds of man hours of service. The Vermont Housing and Conservation Board has given us grants, to help meet the drastic need for simple, decent, and affordable housing in our community.

We are very grateful to these sponsors and to our individual volunteers and donors. However, we still need to raise funds to cover project costs. Due to the size of the Milton neighborhood, we’ve had to pay impact fees and infrastructure costs that were not part of our other smaller projects. Please help us meet our goal of raising the $800,000 needed to build these homes.  Your donation puts a roof over the head of our partner families, as much those who swing the hammers. Donate today!
