2007 Community Picnic | Print |  E-mail
Almost 300 people of all ages attended the event, held on Sunday afternoon, July 29, to celebrate and support the special way Habitat helps people help other people achieve the dream of every family:  home ownership.  Cooks and chefs grilled up lots of delicious meats and laid out an amazing array of salads and side dishes.  Kids had a great time playing under the parachute and seeing how many hula hoops they could keep going.  Badminton birdies, croquet balls and Frisbees were flying everywhere, and the Charlotte band, KJAM kept us singing and swaying to their great music of the recent decades.

The Community Picnic was made possible through the extraordinary efforts of many volunteers and donors:

  • Andrea Van Hoven of Shelburne Farms for their hospitality;
  • Our Corporate SupportersMerchants Bank, Almartin Volvo, Gregory's Supply, Chittenden Bank, Hallam Associates, Morris Switzer Architects, and Servpro;
  • Steve Redmond at Kindred Design for design of our posters and tickets;
  •  Mark Kalbfleish for his professional audio system;
  • New England Culinary Institute for their prepared dishes and service;
  • Don Schultz and the Americorp volunteers for lugging all the tables and chairs;
  • Rik Fenton for an extraordinary job of collecting donations of food and supplies from dozens of area businesses:  Ben's Sandwiches, Bessery's Quality Market, Bob's Meat  Market, City Market, Coffee Hound,  Culligan Water     Technology,  Dollar General,  George Weston Bakery,  South Burlington Grand Union,  Great Harvest Bread,  South Burlington Hannaford Supermarket,  Klinger Bread Co,  Koffee Kup Bakery,  Lantman's IGA,  McKenzie of Vermont, Burlington Price Chopper,  Rhino Foods, South Burlington Shaw's Supermarket,  Shelburne Supermarket,  Sunhill Food of Vermont,  Vermont Heritage Spring Water;
