Family Eligibility

Applicants must attend an Applicant Information Meeting to begin the application process.
Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity builds homes in partnership with people. Applicants must invest “sweat equity” into building their home. The homes are then sold at no profit, through a no-interest loan. Each homeowner’s monthly mortgage payment goes into a revolving fund that is used to build more Habitat homes in northwestern Vermont.  To find out how you can become a homeowner, email the Family Selection committee.

Once the applicant returns the completed applications including all necessary documentation, your file will be processed. The process has several areas of focus.

  3. Landlord references and utility account history
  4. Verification of deposit
  5. Income guideline check
  6. Other sources of income
  7. Home visit
