Donation Criteria

 

This page contains a list of the items the Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity ReStore accepts. Habitat for Humanity ReStore accepts donations of new and used home goods and usable structurally sound building materials. All donations are tax-deductible. Below are general guidelines. Donation criteria list is subject to change.

The Habitat ReStore is currently accepting donations through free scheduled pick up. The store is located at 528 Essex Road/ Route 2A, just up the hill from Agway and the ECO CARWASH.

If you don’t see your item listed or if you have questions, please contact us for more information. We offer FREE PICKUPS ON LARGE ITEMS.

Cabinetry- In good condition with intact doors and drawers

  • Full kitchen and bathroom sets

  • Hardware: Hinges and Pulls

Cash Donations

  • We accept home improvement materials as well as cash. Your contribution will help deserving families realize their dreams of home ownership.

Doors – residential only, No rot, No cracks, No missing panes

  • Exterior or Interior
  • Pre-hung or door slabs

Flooring

  • Hardwood/ Parquet flooring (25 square feet or more)
  • New carpet 10 x 10 or larger
  • New padding
  • New Vinyl tiles or vinyl sheets
  • Slate, Marble, or Ceramic tile and Underlayment
  • Antique hardwood flooring with nails removed

Furniture – Good Condition and Structurally Sound

  • Bedroom Furniture (no mattresses)
  • Book shelves
  • Chairs: Dining, Living, Task, Conference room, Office
  • Filing Cabinets and Hardware
  • Tables and Desks: Large and Small
  • Wooden and Upholstered
  • Office
  • Rugs

Hardware

  • Complete sets of door hardware
  • Any quantity of hinges, nails, screws, hangers, etc.
  • Plumbing hardware
  • Electrical hardware

Home Entertainment Electronics- Must be less than 5 years old and in working order

  • TV’s and Monitors (thin, flat screen ONLY)
  • MP3 players and Stereos
  • DVD, Blue Ray
  • Photo Printers

Housewares

  • Dishes, dish sets
  • Seasonal Items
  • Artwork/Decorating
  • Framed Mirrors
  • Books
  • CDs, DVDs, Records
  • Sporting Goods
  • Collectibles

Lighting- In good condition, complete and in working order

  • Fixtures and Ceiling fans
  • Floor and Table lamps
  • No Fluorescent lights or Can lights

Lumber and Plywood- No scraps

  • Plywood, Sheathing, Luan (1/2 or full sheets)
  • Dimensional: 6’ or longer
  • Woodworking lumber: Rough cut, Planed (2′ or longer)
  • Wood must be free of nails and concrete

Miscellaneous

  • Air Conditioners, Heating, Ventilation, and Cooling equipment  (5 years old or newer)
  • All heating & ventilating equipment must be removed from the home

Plumbing

  • Bathtubs: Fiberglass, Claw-foot, Steel
  • Sinks: Kitchen and Bath, Pedestal (no rust or cracks)
  • Shower enclosures (no cracks or stains)
  • Toilets: residential only, 1.6 gallon (low flow)
  • Miscellaneous: Plumbing hardware, Fittings, Pipes

Tools and Power Equipment (in working order)

  • Hand and power tools
  • Lawnmowers, snow blowers, leaf blowers
  • Garden Tools
  • String trimmers

Windows

  • Double Hung
  • Picture
  • Bay Complete
  • Without Rot, Cracks, or Foggy glass.
  • No sashes
  • No single pane or storm windows

Donate Everyday Supplies for ReStore Operations

We will always gratefully accept gift cards for Staples or grocery/supply stores for cleaning supplies. We appreciate any support you can provide. Here’s a list of ongoing supply needs:

  • Copier paper
  • Toner
  • Pens
  • Tape
  • Note pads
  • Cleaning Supplies (for counters, bathrooms, windows, and more)
  • Paper towels
  • Towels

  • Anti-freeze or Motor oil
  • Paint and Stain

  • OLD computers (over 5 years old)
