Lowe’s and Habitat: Women Build Event

This year, Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity will host its National Women Build Week event on May 7th to finish work at our two new homes in Charlotte.
National Women Build Week invites women across the country to devote one or more days to the effort to fight poverty by helping to build affordable housing. Women make a difference in their communities by building homes and raising awareness of local housing needs.
The event is typically held the week before Mother’s Day because families with children make up a staggering number of those in need of adequate housing.
Please visit our Volunteer page on our website to view upcoming opportunities. We are in need of many non-construction volunteers.

Each year after the long hold of winter, the arrival of spring gives all of us in Vermont a renewed optimism and hope. How fitting, then, that this year spring includes the dedication of two homes and ground breaking for a third. The optimism and excitement of these three families far exceeds what the season brings. We feel the power of a newly hopeful future, with stability, security, sustainability and peace of mind. We look ahead with restored faith in our ability to succeed, and with the strength that comes from deep gratitude. In a world sometimes darkened by seasons of bleakness, Habitat for Humanity brings an early sunrise and longer days filled with light.

Church Street's Holiday Tree came down this week and is ready to become lumber for a Green Mountatin Habitat for Humanity Home. Church Street Marketplace's tree will have a new life in affordable homes. Thanks to the generosity of the Marketplace as well as Fairpoint (who sponsored the tree), Sabourin family (who donated the tree), and Clifford Lumber (who will mill the tree), the magic of the holidays will live on in a Habitat home.
