National Women Build Week a success! | Print |  E-mail

In the days leading up to Mother’s Day 2009, more than 7,000 women volunteers, including recording artist Trisha Yearwood, pounded nails and raised walls at more than 200 Habitat for Humanity construction sites throughout the United States. The pre-Mother’s Day activities were part of Habitat’s second annual National Women Build Week, May 2–10, sponsored by Lowe’s.

On May 9, 2009, Women from Chittenden County got together to participate in Habitat for Humanity International’s Women Build day. Women Build is Habitat’s volunteer program for women who want to learn construction skills and make a difference by building homes and communities.

Women Build projects are regularly held by Habitat affiliates across the United States, and by Habitat organizations around the world. Women at these builds have furthered Habitat’s home-building mission by helping to construct more than 1,500 houses.
